Police call driver of minivan, car after footage of traffic incident goes viral
PETALING JAYA: Police here called two motorists for questioning after video of a traffic incident in Bandar Sri Damansara went viral.
Dash camera footage from one of the vehicles shows a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) slamming its brakes in front of a car passing through a traffic light junction while it was green, nearly causing a collision in the process.
Petaling Jaya Commr. OCPD deputy Mohamad Fakhruddin Abdul Hamid said the district traffic investigation and law enforcement department detected the video at 10:28 p.m. Sunday (October 17).
“The video showed a vehicle suddenly applying its brakes at the intersection of traffic lights along Persiaran Perdana, Bandar Sri Damansara. The incident occurred between a minivan and a car,” he said in a statement. Tuesday, October 19.
He said police located the drivers of the two vehicles involved.
“The driver of the car has already come forward and made a statement while the driver of the other vehicle will show up in the near future,” said ACP Mohamad Fakhruddin.
“The first investigations revealed that the incident had occurred at 11:44 am on October 11,” he added, adding that no accident or injury had occurred during the incident.
ACP Mohamad Fakhruddin said the incident was being investigated under section 48 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for obstruction by a vehicle on the road.
He urged all road users to never take any action themselves that could endanger themselves, their family members and other road users.
