John P. Gilboy Jr., 70, from Allentown, died on July 26, 2021, after a long battle with Waldenstrom’s lymphoma and amyloidosis. He was the husband of Susan (Steinke) Gilboy for 48 years.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Pauline (Ruff) and John P. Gilboy Sr.
He graduated from Allentown Central Catholic High School. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business and Finance from Mount St. Mary’s University in Maryland.
Since 1964, he had been a worker, car dealership and then owner of Gilboy Ford, Whitehall, which his father founded in 1953.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Church in Allentown.
He was a past president of Lehigh Valley Auto Association. He was currently a member of the Lake Winola Cottagers Association.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, John T. and his wife Janine L. of Macungie; one daughter, Taryn E. Gilboy of Whitehall; four grandchildren: Aidan, Nicolas and Keira Gilboy and Gabriel Delgadillo; three siblings, Nancy G. and her husband Dr Fred Wyman of Maryland, Kevin P. and his wife Mary Beth R. of Narberth and Sharon G. and her husband Raymond Smith of Emmaus; nephews; and a niece.
