Sunderland AFC is proud to be inclusive and to work with all supporters.

We recognize that supporters with disabilities may need assistance in getting the full experience at the Stadium of Light and offering a variety of reasonable adjustments, depending on individual needs.

The provisions below have been designed with the assistance of the level playing field guidelines – see www.levelplayingfield.org.uk

Disabled supporters who need to book or inquire about accessible parking spaces or who wish to purchase tickets can contact the general ticket office at 0191 5515004 or by email to [email protected]

SEASON CARDS / MATCH TICKETS

Fans with accessibility needs have the option of purchasing a season pass or attending match-by-match, subject to availability.

Tickets are sold at the price corresponding to the stand and the installation category. Preferential rates are also available.

When the need for a personal assistant has been identified, the personal assistant is admitted free of charge. The personal assistant must be seated with the disabled supporter and must be 18 years of age and over and fully capable of serving your needs.

The personal assistant must enter the stadium at the same time as the disabled supporter.

WHEELCHAIR USERS

The Stade de la Lumière has 196 reception areas available for people in wheelchairs:

– 70 seats in the West stand – 16 seats in the Carling stand (North)

– 26 seats in the East Grandstand

– 80 seats in the South Grandstand – 4 seats in the South West Corner

These are accessible through one of the four accessible entrances. These are located at entrances 62A, 32A, 46A and 54A. The Black Cats Bar and all corporate areas of the West Grandstand are fully accessible by lift.

VISIT OF THE CLUB SUPPORTERS

There are six wheelchair compartments in the Carling stand (upper). Accessible parking spaces are also available for visiting supporters.

The club will inform the ticket office of the visiting club of the number of places available and the eligible sales criteria.

Please note that the Stadium of Light is a smoke-free venue.

AMBUTING SUPPORTERS

Traveling supporters can sit anywhere with their personal assistant to enjoy the game; from any seat they choose.

If, for any reason, a traveling supporter feels they have more specific seating requirements (a certain area, block or row), they should contact the club’s Disability Liaison Officer to discuss their seating requirements. individual needs in more detail.

Every effort will be made to meet these requests.

The possibilities for disabled supporters to attend away matches may unfortunately be limited by the allowance received from the visiting club.

All tickets sold for away matches (including neutral venues) are subject to the terms and conditions of that site / club.

If the allocation of disabled tickets provided by the opposing club is exhausted, we will offer tickets but cannot guarantee seat accessibility.

NATHAN SHIPPEY SENSORY ROOM

Developed for supporters with autism spectrum disorders who are affected by the noise level in the rest areas, the club has built a bespoke hall with sensor equipment that allows supporters to enjoy the game in a calm and peaceful environment. adapted.

The price of the ticket will depend on the facility category, but it should be noted that there is only limited availability due to the size of this facility.

ASSISTANCE DOGS

We are delighted to assist and welcome supporters with assistance dogs. However, we can only accommodate supporters with assistance dogs in our lower level.

Any supporter wishing to bring an assistance dog to a match should contact the general box office prior to the match, to ensure that the correct match tickets are allocated and that appropriate arrangements can be made.

HELMETS FOR THE BLIND OR MALICIOUS

Blind or visually impaired fans can enjoy match commentary at all home games via free helmets. These can be booked through the general ticket office.

ACCESSIBLE TOILETS

Accessible toilets are available in all areas of the stadium; these are fitted with radar locks and keys are available from nearby flight attendants.

ACCESSIBLE PARKING

Accessible parking is available inside the stadium complex. These spaces are first allocated to eligible season pass holders and then on a first come, first served basis for match day parking.

Each individual experiences their disability differently and Sunderland AFC recognizes this, so we consider each request individually. Under the terms of the Equality Act 2010, the club will verify the eligibility of supporters.

Proof of the documentation below must be seen before a reservation can be made. All documents must be sent or dropped off at the ticket office.

Please note that receipt of a blue / orange badge or incapacity benefit is not considered sufficient, unless justified by one of the eligibility criteria given below:

  • Confirmation of the increased rate of the mobility allowance
  • Confirmation of the higher child care allowance rate
  • A personal letter of support from the general practitioner or hospital specialist (dated less than two months)
  • Improved Mobility Component of the Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS ON MOBILITY

Supporters with temporary mobility restrictions (e.g. a broken leg) which may affect access to the stadium or rest areas should contact the general ticket office before the match to arrange an alternate seating position.

The Stadium of Light store is fully wheelchair accessible. Orders can also be placed quickly and easily online, 24 hours a day, via safcstore.com.

* CONCESSION ELIGIBILITY

Supporters purchasing tickets in accessible areas of the Stadium of Light will need to provide one of the following documents, issued within the last 12 months, before purchasing tickets:

– Confirmation of the average or higher rate of the living allowance for people with disabilities
– Confirmation of the average or higher rate of the mobility allowance
– Confirmation of the average or higher rate of the care allowance
– Confirmation of the average or higher rate of the severe invalidity allowance
– Certification to be registered blind or visually impaired
– A personal letter of support from the general practitioner or hospital specialist (dated less than two months)
– Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

** PERSONAL ASSISTANT TICKETS

A personal assistant cannot be admitted without being in the presence of the disabled supporter he is assisting.

A personal assistant can upgrade their ticket if they wish to attend the match without the disabled person they are attending, and must go to the ticket office, where they will have to pay the applicable rate for that match.

Tickets for personal assistants are transferable, but tickets for disabled supporters are not.

ASSOCIATION OF DISABLED SUPPORTERS

The SAFC Disabled Supporters’ Association is an independent organization representing the interests of Sunderland disabled supporters. The group has regular meetings and organizes dedicated and accessible trips for away games.
